Responce to poem "Sympathy" by Paul Lawrance Dunbar

"A Caged Bird Dreams" T-shirt by Youthana Yuos The poet has chosen his words to create a vivid image of the caged wounded bird that looks upon the free beutiful world and longs to be part of it. The poem makes me sympathises with the bird and try and relate the birds situations to a Black American at the time when racism had "caged" the Black Americans. The poem made me realize how much of a pain it can be to be a victom of racism. The little this we do like name calling and steriopyping someone realy can turn out to become something more serious. I certainly do not want to become the "bars" of someones "cage" that stops them from feeling free to be themselves.
